So, Riley hadn't met them before. Fila mulled over the info in her head. It could be a good thing or a bad thing; there was no way to tell for sure as of now. But the fee thing... at Riley's nod, Fila began to wonder, what could they pay as a fee?
Riley was more knowledgable about this place — no, it wasn't even just this place, he knew more about this world than her too. Like before, she preferred to follow his lead. Riley had brought out a shield so Fila stayed alert. If he threw the first attack, Fila would bare her fangs.
"What that gesture for, pipsqueak?"
These Digimon! They were discussing, and now the smaller one was...what was he doing? What was that gesture for? To fight?
Beside WurstToyAgumon, his sibling squinted in confusion. "Roll over," she guessed, wildly. "Run? Fight? Eat?"
"Eat!?" The brother looked around. There was no more food. "What are we eating?"
"I assume you meant to ask what fee to pay," Boss interrupted smoothly. And wasn't that a thought? The BlackToyAgumon eyed the two of them again.
The thing was, they really didn't look like they had anything to give. The pizza was gone, and WurstToyAgumon was right, there wasn't any other notable food, outside scattered, trampled fries. They didn't even look like they had any bag on them, although...
His eyes caught a gleam of red, by the furry Digimon's ear. "What's that?"
You know the moments when you had a feeling like something bad was about to happen, but you couldn't really quite pinpoint the exact moment till it happened? Yeah, that was Fila, who felt her stomach dropped when the BlackToyAgumon's eyes matched her.
Or more accurately, caught the one earring dangling from her ear.
Was it actually precious? To be honest, Fila didn't know. She picked it up in her travels in the Digital World and thought it looked good, and it had been with her for a long time. Was it precious? No idea. Was it important, especially to Fila? Yes, very much so. Was the Dorumon going to give it up?
Probably not.
She flattened her ears behind, hoping the little stone would hide beneath her fur. As tempting as it was to say "Nothing of importance", that would probably have the opposite effect, but Fila couldn't think of anything to say. Instead, she gave a worried at Riley, because when it really came down to it, was it worth protecting a stone over a friend?
