Two of a Kind [Telek & Mino]

[Kitt]

Kitt’s feet landed with soft, rhythmic thuds as he covered the ground at speed. The sun was high overhead, beating down on him as he traveled across the fertile autumn grass of Lake Bounty. His cloak fluttered in the wind, exposing his back to wind, which made the temperature significantly less unbearable as he ran on all fours, feeling a rush of exhilaration.

The forests near Lake Bounty had been Kitt’s home for the last few days. Ever since waking up in this strange new world, he had met some kind, caring group of Digimon that were in the same situation as him, along with one that had a particular mean personality. He never thought that someone like him was able to make friends. The pain of loneliness that he had felt before he met Skadi the Valaismon had mostly subsided, as he would wake up every morning with her arms tightly wrapped around, filling his heart with emotion every single time. Her, Toki, Setsuna, and Aylin have been nothing but kind and hospitable towards him.

Approaching the trail that led into the woods, Kitt slowed his pace until he stood up on both of his feet. The wind on his back still blew as he walked into the trees, sighing loudly as he came into the shade. “Phew! That was a nice jog around the lake,” he said to himself, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead. “I never realized that Lake Bounty was that big, but at least I got a good look around the area.” He’d never venture outside of the sanctuary Toki and the others reside besides the fishing dock so he viewed his little exercise as an exploration.

Kitt’s nose steered him the right way, and after a few minutes of waking, the waters of Lake Bounty were visible from an opening in the trees, with humans mingling about. The grass here was slightly greener, and the trees in this particular spot had big enough leaves that gave shade from the unusual heat today.

Feeling the cool lakeside breeze, Kitt took off his black cloak, using it as a blanket for him to sit while he sought shade under the boughs of the trees. He exhaled softly from his nose; the shade and the breeze were so nice.

His eyes became a little heavy to keep open, and since he jogged all over the place, he thought this would be a nice place to take a nap. He curled up into a large feline ball as he began to doze off, sighing in comfort.

[Telek & Mino]

Family trip, family trip! Telek and Mino were on a family trip, with Carlos! Granted, the trip wasn't any huge vacation or anything - just three Rookies heading down to Lake Bounty, to relax together as a family and get some fresh air. But really, any trip was reason for excitement - especially for Telek, and her natural curiosity. Mino was just happy to be with xyr family, wherever it took xem, meanwhile.

"Mino, Mino, look!" Telek chirped softly, crouched amongst the bushes. "There's a dragonfly!"

Indeed, perched on one of the stems of the bush, a dragonfly was at rest - grooming itself with its front legs. Telek watched with wide-eyed curiosity and fascination, the young Verdemon attempting to stay as still as possible, to avoid startling the insect.

Mino, meanwhile, would tilt xyr head curiously as xe examined this odd creature. "I-It's... Ve-ry lon-g-g..." Xe observed quietly. Both in body, and in its wingspan, it was a sizeable subject! Eventually, the AndroDorumon would turn xyr gaze away to try and call Carlos over, but--

"Aww, there it goes... Bye-bye!" Telek waved farewell to the dragonfly as it flew off at high speeds - off towards the lake, to hunt more insects, she was sure. It was a little disappointing that they couldn't show Carlos - but it wasn't like either twin had the paws or claws to catch the dragonfly without harming it, really. Glancing to Mino though, she'd mention "Did you know? There used to be a related species - Griffinflies - that existed a long time ago! And they were even bigger!"

Mino blinked. Xe was pretty sure she shared this information once before, while they were interfaced with one another - but xe'd nonetheless nod in acknowledgement, grinning. "Th-a-at... Is co-o-ol...!"

"Yeah!" Telek responded, her tails swishing happily. "There used to be lots of super big cool animals on Earth, way back when!" Glancing about though, she'd wonder out loud "Do you think we could find another dragonfly, to show..." ... Though, she'd soon trail off upon noticing something - glancing out deeper into the surrounding woods. It felt almost as though...

"... A-ano-ther... Digim-on?" Mino murmured out loud.

Indeed, there seemed to be a signal coming from beyond the foliage - perhaps another Rookie, like themselves. This fact had both twins curious - and after sharing a brief glance, Telek called to Carlos "We sense another Rookie - we're gonna go meet them!" before running off - tracking down the source of the signal.

"W-wai-t up!" Mino called to Telek initially - though glancing in Carlos' direction, xe'd promise "We-e'll be c-are-ful!" before running to catch up with her sister.

Though, with the Verdemon's superior speed (albeit she was pretty average otherwise,) she would be the first to come across another digimon. A little lion in a cloak and armor, in fact. Telek blinked at this, remembering something she had been told about before - by a certain Toki, in fact. Was this a Spadamon? Was this the Kitt that he told them about? Curiosity winning out over sense, Telek would approach and gently poke the Spadamon - asking softly "Hello! Who're you?"

Mino would come onto the scene about now, moving to Telek's side. "Fr-i-end...?" Xe'd ask, gently tilting xyr head with a hopeful expression.

Perhaps not the best way to greet a random stranger, but the twins were doing their best at the very least!

[Kitt]

Kitt laid in comfortable silence for a couple of minutes , letting the breeze wash over him, bringing tantalizing scents from the flowers that dotted around the trail nearby. Warm, familiar scents that made Kitt’s spine tingle with a forgotten memory. Strange as it was, the setting did seem familiar to him, though he could not remember why. Unlike his companions, he had no memory of himself, only his name. But the fact that this scenario, this moment, feels so familiar, he must have had a life in the Digital World. Did he have friends—family that were worried for him? Maybe when they find a way back to the Digital World, he’ll find the answers.

With a deep deep sigh, he began to doze off as his thoughts became muted by the sound of nature. There was a sort of peacefulness to everything around him. His ears twitched, listening to the birds chirping and the bushes rustling in the wind.

He felt something poking him and a voice. Thinking it was Skadi, he shifted himself up, rubbing his eyes and letting out a little yawn. “When did you get here, Madam Ska—“

Once his eyes had adjusted, he looked to see two Digimon standing right next to him.

“Uwaaaaaah!” Their sudden appearance startled him as he quickly scooted away, hiding behind a nearby tree. He poked his head out, his ears flattened against his head with his tail puffed. Though after a few moments, he realized that the two did not look like Digimon that spelled trouble. He nervously waved his hand at the two. “H-Hello…”, he said in a nervous tone.

Still recovering from his bad experience with the Impmon-X named Dio, it was understandable that he was a bit weary to new faces for the time being.

[Telek & Mino]

As Kitt yelped and startled, the twins would startle as well - Mino's face displaying an exclamation mark as xe stumbled back, and Telek's face displaying '!!NANI!!' as she blurted a quick and reflexive "WHAT!" in turn.

As their surprise faded though, it was in that moment that they realized that maybe the Spadamon wasn't quite as awake as they had initially thought. Or that they probably had to rethink their approach in meeting new people on their own. They were kind of used to Carlos helping supervise, usually. But at the very least, even if the Spadamon was nervous, he was willing to talk! Which meant step one to making new friends was out of the way!

The twins' faces would soon return to their usual looks - expressions friendly and curious. But of the two, Telek would be the first to speak up. "Hello! I'm Telek, a Verdemon! And this is my sibling, Mino, an AndroDorumon!" She'd introduce herself - her two tails happily swishing. "Who're you? Are you a Spadamon?"

"Hel-lo..." Mino greeted, meanwhilst - slowly tilting xyr head, moving in a somewhat jittery and stilted fashion, like a shaky marionette. "Is... Fr-r-iend..?" Hopefully, the unnerving uncanny-valley aura that xe gave off wouldn't pose any issues...! The last thing xe wanted was for a potential friend to be frightened away, after all..!

[Kitt]

Kitt slowly emerged from behind the tree, still cautious, but little more so since they seemed to have the same reaction as him. Usually he would be able to hear them coming thanks to his good hearing, but since he was so exhausted from his exercise a while ago, he was too focused on all of the ambient sounds that had put him to sleep. He made a mental note to not fall asleep in the open like that, in case a human would spot him.

But nevertheless, he was quite curious about the two Digimon before him. They weren’t like any Digimon he’d encountered so far before; their faces and some parts of their bodies looked more machine-like, like an Andromon. They introduced themselves as Telek the Verdemon and Mino the AndroDorumon. Once his nerves calmed down, his tail relaxing but curving like a question mark, he would start to introduce himself.

"I-I’m a Spadamon. My name is Kittsunami. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He said to them, bowing his head, sounding completely genuine with his words. “B-but if it sounds like a mouthful, you can call me Kitt for short. It’s what my friends call me.”

Mino would ask if he was a friend, to which Kitt nodded. “Y-yes, I’m friendly. I’m still new to making friends, so if I act weird or a little bit too quiet, that’s why.”

Telek would hum for a moment - a little spinning buffering symbol on her forehead as she processed and mulled over Kitt's response, before nodding "Okay! Kittsunami - or Kitt!" She chirped happily, pronouncing his name surprisingly clearly and well enunciated. As it turned out, being an android digimon with a brain like a super computer (even if she didn't necessarily have the intelligence to put it to its fullest use yet,) helped with figuring out hard to pronounce words and names! "It's good to meet you, Kittsunami!"

"Ki-ittsu-nam-i-i... Frie-end...!" Mino spoke happily, all the whilst - xyr expression relaxed and cheery as xyr tail wagged (although still in stilted and awkward motions.) Even if xyr voice was glitched and robotic, it seemed that xe had similar ease in properly speaking Kittsunami's name... The stuttering and hiccups aside, that is.

Xe'd approach Kitt to nuzzle the Spadamon, before sitting down. "Is ok-ay... I'm we-ir-d some-ome-times, to-o." Xe'd reassure him, idly tapping xyr claws together in a sheepish gesture.

"Mino isn't weird! You're my bestest sibling!" Telek retorted, meanwhilst - bouncing over to wrap Mino up into a hug - which xe seemed to immediately melt into. "And you're great too, Kittsunami, I'm sure!" She added, smiling brightly to the little lion. "What're you doing out here? Me and Mino and Dad-Carlos are on a family trip! Playing and exploring at the big-pretty lake!"

"Ca-arlos, napp-ing, t-hough. I th-i-nk." Mino mused out loud, scritching at xyr cheek with a claw.

[Kitt]

Kitt stared at Telek for a moment, watching the little symbol on her forehead spin as she mused over his response, before responding rather cheerfully. He was surprised that the two of them were able to pronounce his full name so easily. Usually to others it was such a mouthful that they would just call him ‘Kitt’ for short.

Mino approached to nuzzle the Spadamon, his tail rising straight up in surprise and his face slightly blushed. The AndroDorumon was a little quirky and weird, but he was glad that they were incredibly nice—Telek too! They both remind her of Skadi in a way.

The Spadamon’s blush grew bigger when Telek said that he was great. “G-great? I don’t know…you think so? I mean we just met…” Kitt looked down, pushing his two fingers together awkwardly. He still wasn’t used to being complimented, especially for not doing anything particularly remarkable. But deep down, he greatly appreciates it.



“Oh, what am I doing out here? I live in these woods with my friends,” Kitt replied, looking at the two of them cuddling. He pointed towards the nearby Lake Bounty. “We live on the other side of the lake, further up the hills that’s hidden from humans. I was out here getting a little exercise, but I was so tired from it that I decided to take a nap here.”

Kitt tilted his head at Telek’s remark. “Dad…what’s that? Is that the name of a human?" he asked

"Why not?" Telek questioned rhetorically, shrugging and smiling warmly to Kitt. "You seem nice! And good! Those are great qualities!" And as far as she understood, it wasn't like Kitt had done anything that was un-great; he just seemed a bit on the shyer and soft-spoken side, like Mino was (albeit perhaps to a greater degree?)

As Kitt explained that he lived here though, Telek and Mino both would turn their gazes towards where the little lion pointed, before turning their attentions back to him. O-oh... Co-oo-l..." Xe breathed - wondering briefly to xemself what living out in the wilderness must be like. Probably a lot less noisy than in the city - though also less people to talk to. Xe had a feeling that xe preferred city life, for that latter reason, personally.

"Oooh - you must've seen lots of dragonflies!" Telek chirped, her thoughts seemingly having gone a completely different direction than Mino's did. "How big do they get? What's the biggest you've seen?" She'd question, little question marks appearing on her visor to match her inquisitive mood. "Did you know? There used to be griffinflies a long time ago! They're related to dragonflies! And could get even bigger!"

Mino blinked as Telek went off on her own little ramble, having not quite expected it. And yet, xe was unable to help a fond smile at xyr sister's enthusiasm over at all.

But then came the question of what 'dad' meant - and both siblings paused, having to think it over. "Dad is not name, Dad is..." Telek had begun trying to explain, though she paused for a second - seeming to be trying to decide on the right word to use. The words 'Title?' and 'Role?' appeared on her visor as she thought it over... Before deciding "Dad is family! Carlos is Dad like Mino is Sibling!"

"Ca-arlos... Rai-s-ed us, whe-n li-ittl-e." Mino added, smiling fondly.
