Digisoul: Boken Effect: The hazy out of focus circles of light you get with with a fast lens. They begin discreetly at first, taking on colors of lights in the surroundings. The stronger the digisoul the more vibrant and out of place the colors.
Appearance: Blue eyed and black haired, David can be pretty hard to pick out of a crowd. He's got a very relaxed wardrobe that seems to consist entirely of t-shirts and blue jeans to the constant annoyance of his more professional peers. He stands at about five feet ten inches, so not so short it's noticeable nor so tall that he's easy to pick out.
The details that make him easy to distinguish are the little things. The studs in both ears, the scar on his forehead above his left eye. The omni-present but well maintained scruff that provides definition to his jawline. The fact that underneath the casual clothes there is /some/ muscle definition but certainly nothing like someone who spends all their time in the gym. There is of course the obnoxiously colored socks he insists on wearing as mis-matched pairs but most people never have to see those horrible things.
There are a couple of details that might help with picking him out. The old but cared for battered brown leather jacket he wears on cooler days, or blue, white, and black one he wears on warmer days. He often carries a camera case around in case something catches his eye. There is also the pair of sunglasses he wears everywhere, even indoors.
Personality:
This man cannot stop poking his nose into other people's business. It is part of what makes him a good reporter but it is also what has gotten him into several serious legal scrapes. The upside is his thriving social life! Sure half the people he talks to would like to wring his neck and the other half would like to toss him out a window, but that makes life fun!
David isn't bad at understanding what the consequences of his actions might be, he just has complete faith in his ability to handle said consequences! Or complete faith in his legal team's ability to handle it. Or he figures the good he does with his actions outweighs the consequences. Regardless David is normally a pretty chill but responsible fellow. He likes to tease his friends, the person in line beside him, and just about everyone actually. He has no compunction about picking fights though and sometimes his teasing takes a more pointed edge. He likes to joke around and generally believes the best of people.
History:
Early in life David grew up with his dad, his mom, and two siblings: both sisters, both younger. They were a fairly normal family growing up, David did dumb teenager things and floundered a bit in high school despite being smart, his sisters ruled the competitive side of school in academics and sports respectively. They're all still in touch, even if David is perhaps not as dutiful about getting back in contact with everyone as his sisters are.
Travel is something that started to define David's life the moment he became an adult. He stayed in Goldenview with his parents until he completed an associate's in photography at the local community college then travelled overseas as a freelance photographer. Partially supported by his parents and partially by his own efforts, he backpacked and hitchhiked across many countries chasing down the perfect pictures to capture political, ecological, and human interest events. He witnessed a lot of good during this, but also a lot of really bad.
He eventually landed a job with Lumen's very own Shining Productions Co. as an overseas correspondent for their various news outlets. The company agreed to cover expenses for David to finish his bachelor's in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Lumen while overseas. Thanks to his reputation as a stubborn individual who was willing to take a creative approach to finding out the details behind several scandals and stories he has been assigned several stories of difficult natures. Just understand that creative in this case means 'a willingness to disregard local laws and/or the boundaries and privacy of evil jerks'.
This has led him to trouble with private security companies, the bodyguards of more than a couple foreign dignitaries and company higher ups, and now he's been recalled to Lumen City as the company lawyer works on sorting through his legal trouble. Luckily she is very good at her job, and nothing David is accused of doing stops him from doing his job here in Lumen City. It helps that he has been moved from writing for the side of the newspaper considered to have higher journalistic integrity to the paper regularly regarded as the local gossip rag. Everyone in the industry knows this is not really a punishment and it is pretty often that other well-regarded news organizations will find about hot new stories from the so-called gossip rag.
Although his current official role is to find human interest stories focusing on events of the upcoming expo and how the advances in holograph technology have saved lives, there is a betting pool on how long it will take before he finds his way into a story with more serious ramifications.
There is also the betting pool about how long until he gets arrested again.
